Hi all,

Just thought I'd say hello. I'm picking up a new 206CC next week (Aegean Blue, Leather S pack, Devil exhaust (the final deal clincher - a warranty friendly performance silencer :) ). Give me a couple of weeks to get up to speed and you'll find me about on the modding sections and this one too.

I'm quite surprised by the car as in terms of breaking all the rules of traditional sportcars (ie. the engines in the right place but drives the wrong wheels and its too heavy so) I was thinking it would be not for me and I'd be looking at either another MX5 (had 2 before but not ideal as sole transport all year), MR2 (Compromise for space), Vauxhall VX220 (if your going to compromise space you may as well have a mad car too :) ), Lotus Elise (bit basic for everyday) but one testdrive of the little PUG and I was hooked. Great progressive handling when needed, a refined ride, it feels like a "normal" car with the roof up, it makes me smile with the roof down, you can alledgedly fit 4 people in (so far I've yet to believe its anymore than a comfy place for the shopping :) ), boot space is OK with the roof up (and passable with it down).

I drove both engines and came to the conclusion that for me the 1.6 was more fun (quickly puts on his flak jacket). Most of my driving is done on country backroads and in the 1.6 its all constant gearchanges and high revving to keep a sensible speed the 2.0 needed more speed to get 1/2 the fun for me. Only my tuppence worth anyway and I'm clearly weird as I preferred a MkI 1.6 MX5 for fun to the 5.0 litre TVR Griffith I replaced it with :)

I got a pretty good deal on the car and have managed to negotiate a deal on my new 17" ers too as the company I'm buying the wheels from are having the 195/55HR15 tyres and steel wheels the dealer is supplying with car as a px deal on the wheels :) All will be sorted before I pick the car up.

As usual a couple of the obligatory newbie questions (not the normal ones though)

1) Has anyone managed to get their dealer to fit a -40mm drop spring set and keep their warranty (even if only with that dealership)?

2) What involved in lowering a Peugeot I know it was always torsion bars at the rear on older models and I've seen mention of them here too but I've no idea what one is or how it works.

3) Is there a club and if so what does it do and how do I join :)

4) Can the dealer fit stereo be removed and a normal din sized stereo be easily fitted. It this is done what happens to the upper display screen?

5) What brand of tyres are normally fitted as standard in the 195/55HR15 size ?

Any help (and encouragement) welcome.

Cheers

Hi mate, good choice of car! There again we're all a bit biased in here aren't we... ;)

For your questions:

1) Not me, but I'd be interested any replies as well!
2) Hmm.. pass!
3) This is it! To get your car & details on the wners section, you'll need to ge tin touch with Lyndon - admin@peugeot206cc.co.uk
4) Yep, a lot of people here have standard fit Kenwoods, Sony, Pioneer etc. Physical fitting is no problem. What you will have trouble with is the wiring - although there are standard ISO connectors in the CC, you'll need to get an external source for illumination (ashtray light) and ignitio power (ciggy lighter). It's be done many times though so there are plenty of people here to help.
5) Not sure, sorry!

Yes, good choice of a car 8)

1) I wanted too to get "lower car" but the dealer said that warranty is gone then  so i drive (yet one and a half year) with standard suspension.
Interesting to hear that warranty goes also elsewhere than in Finland :?

Hi Dave,

Hope you enjoy tour cc as much as we do, where abouts in North Lincs are you, that's my neck of the woods. My car is often over there at my parents I will look out for you, I haven't seen many of them over there so get lots of admiring looks 8)

Thanks for the info.

- Continentals would be good as it will make my new 17's very cheap. Fingers crossed :)
- I'm based near the Humber Bridge and will keep and eye out for other cars.

Cheers
