Just thought I'd say hello. I'm picking up a new 206CC next week (Aegean Blue, Leather S pack, Devil exhaust (the final deal clincher - a warranty friendly performance silencer
I'm quite surprised by the car as in terms of breaking all the rules of traditional sportcars (ie. the engines in the right place but drives the wrong wheels and its too heavy so) I was thinking it would be not for me and I'd be looking at either another MX5 (had 2 before but not ideal as sole transport all year), MR2 (Compromise for space), Vauxhall VX220 (if your going to compromise space you may as well have a mad car too
I drove both engines and came to the conclusion that for me the 1.6 was more fun (quickly puts on his flak jacket). Most of my driving is done on country backroads and in the 1.6 its all constant gearchanges and high revving to keep a sensible speed the 2.0 needed more speed to get 1/2 the fun for me. Only my tuppence worth anyway and I'm clearly weird as I preferred a MkI 1.6 MX5 for fun to the 5.0 litre TVR Griffith I replaced it with
I got a pretty good deal on the car and have managed to negotiate a deal on my new 17" ers too as the company I'm buying the wheels from are having the 195/55HR15 tyres and steel wheels the dealer is supplying with car as a px deal on the wheels
As usual a couple of the obligatory newbie questions (not the normal ones though)
1) Has anyone managed to get their dealer to fit a -40mm drop spring set and keep their warranty (even if only with that dealership)?
2) What involved in lowering a Peugeot I know it was always torsion bars at the rear on older models and I've seen mention of them here too but I've no idea what one is or how it works.
3) Is there a club and if so what does it do and how do I join
4) Can the dealer fit stereo be removed and a normal din sized stereo be easily fitted. It this is done what happens to the upper display screen?
5) What brand of tyres are normally fitted as standard in the 195/55HR15 size ?
Any help (and encouragement) welcome.
Cheers
Dave
