Radiator Fan

Hi Guys, as many of us are having the same issue with the coolant getting hot in while stuck in traffic I have decided to ask this. When I am sat in busy traffic the temperature guage creeps right up to the last notch before the red then the fan kicks in and bring the temp back down to the half way mark. I dont like it getting this hot and wish peugeot would have made the fan kick in a lot sooner than 3 quarters to the red. Anyways, I have decided I would like to have control of when the fan kicks in so I want to wire it to a switch on the dash so I can manually turn the fan on whe she starts getting hot. How do I go about this or should I take it to an auto electritian and get it done. Thanks guys

Why not just pop the roof down and turn the heater on full. Obviously doesn't work as well when it's raining

You might want to simple consider changing the sensor and/or thermostat and fix the problem rather than bodge it ..

Could be rad is also in need of a clean-out or replacement as you don't know if the previous owners have been shoving plain water in there, and if it's a hard-water area it will fur up like a kettle!

And when was the cambelt and water pump last changed?

Hi, thanks for your replies. I don't need to change anything as there are no faulty components. I just wanted the option to kick the fan in a bit sooner.

Sorry but I can only disagree. The needle should not reach red before the fan cuts in ... between 1/2 and 3/4 max ... so something is wrong ...

Check your cooling fans are running in right direction!!

Hi Gazza. Sorry I may have missed informed you in my original description. The fan kicks in at the 3/4 mark. I just wanted the option of having the gan come on sooner.

Its meant to be like that, having the fan come on any sooner will flatten the battery over time particularly if using the heater/rear window demister and lights
