boot lock?

Have you tried spraying WD40 inside to see if its Jammed.
If that doesnt work, take the trim off the underside of the tailgate and see if the 2 rods have become disconnected from the lock assembly.
Did the lock work when you bought the car ? The lock assembly is held in place with 3 torx screws. It is easy to remove and service.

If the lock cylinder is faulty, it is separate to the lock assembly and so if you replaced it, you would need the appropriate key to open it. Peugeot only sell locks in a set (Cost approx £200 I think) So you would need to get a second hand one with the key blade.
