My boyfriend always closes the windows when we go through the tunnel and on Sunday we had to pull off before the tunnel as we had the roof down. Does everyone else do this? I guess it makes sense with all those fumes, but I was just curious!

carbon monoxide is absorbed by the body 20 time more readilly than oxygen. An air mixture of 10% for one minute would put ya in danger.

Fortunately its not nearly that bad. stop worrying :D

Tunnels are for opening the windows/getting the roof down and listening to the exhaust!

i pulled up to the mersey tunnel, gave the bird a fiver, waited ages, barrier never went up. after ages i reversed (glad it wasn't busy) and moaned, she said i had to throw money in the bucket. I was like, "no, i've already paid you!"

Seems she gave me a fivers worth of change - i never even looked to see what she gave me

too used to the dartford tunnel! next time i'm in liverpool i'll just pay by cheque! ;) :D

When we started to queue, a car from the next queue along moved into our queue. He was originally in the "no change given" section. So he caused chaos moving into our queue, but the fool didn't realise it was also "no change given". In the end, a driver from another car had to get out and give him the change! Made me giggle. He was very flustered and red-faced - hee hee!
