if cost and fuel economy differences aren't a problem then go for the 2.0SE

i think you will find the CC better than the escort :P

Dependent on budget etc, obviously the 2 litre is a better car. however, i always advise that people should get a 1.6 WITH leather interior rather than a 2.0 WITHOUT, as that for me is more noticable than the auto lights and marginal difference in driving feel
Then again, if you're going for a second hand one and you see a deal on a cc without leather then one of the members (chadd) is selling a leather interior - dont know how much he wants though

Oi you Ive got a 1.6 some of us are penalized through insurance!!!!

Anyhow the 1.6 is ok....admittedly my 1.4 Tigra could have beat the shit out of it anyday but at least it's solid!

I bought the 1.6 partly because i drove them both, and expected better fuel economy than i'm getting  also partly coz it was a choice between car exactly as i wanted in 1.6 format in less than two weeks, or ten week wait for the 2 litre

There is an almost un-noticable difference in the feel to the cars, and most motoring magazines at the time recommended the 1.6 as better value - again saying the difference in the drive was minimal. (dunno what they say now) especially now the cars look practically identical (and who gives a sh1t about auto lights and wipers - waste of time) the only real benefit is the climate control

But the best things in life are worth waiting for. We had a 3 month wait for the CC. Previously I had a six month wait for an Impreza (and I'd spent a year lusting after one and saving up prior to that).

I know what you mean. however, i felt (and still do) that getting the car two months early would make me happier than the slight engine difference and a load of features i quite frankly couldnt give a sh1te about! :D

Ignoring the 0-60 time (since i know most people on here realise that really is very little indication of how fast a car feels, or even is) the 1.6 takes less than 2 seconds longer to travel a kilometre from a standing start. i am told this is something to do with the 2.0 power curve, inefficiencies in producing torque at various revs, etc, and that the 1.6 actually accelerates faster from 50 - 80 mph (or some speeds around that range, im not 100% sure, i looked into all this at least 18 months ago)

of course, this could all be a load of bollox, but its what i got from my research at the time, and is largely from reliable sources. I'm just throwing in my own 2p and passing on what i got told. also, i still maintain that if i was on a budget, i would choose leather over the higher engine (not that it matters with allures about)
