The problem with moving number plate letters even a poxy inch is that from a distance these letters moved closer to one another can appear to form a totally different character which is often the effect these people are looking for, hence 1 3 becomes a 13 or a "B" from a distance etc etc which isn't the point of having a plate

OK OK

I am as against illegible number plates as anyone. That is why (if they ever get here! Grrrrr) my number plates have been ordered in standard UK font. I have had the colours and pictures on the border pre-approved by the local plod, and generally i feel my plate will still be perfectly legible. All i have done is move the format from
letter letter letter s p a c e number letter
to
letter s p a c e letter letter number letter
Which i dont think makes it any more difficult to read at all.
If you think about the plate SAU 549E, which went for £5,600 at the auction i went to, fiddling with the '549' to make it look more like 'SAUSAGE' will make it EASIER to read/remember in an accident or crime, but the old bill will do ya for making it HARDER to read?
