Dear Sir!

I resent the outrageous implications that

a). I need to see a shrink

b). I Need my eyes tested

c). That driving my merc with Xenon lights (when new cars have them en mass) make me elligible for a lynching.

When in reality these artificial fog of excuses have been created by immature drivers who either drive without due care or want to pretend they're stirling moss.

Robbie.

Didn't Basil Brush refer to the man with his hand up Basil's backside as Mr Derek? Just an observation ;) :P ;)

What you mean is, they don't dazzle the people who claim they're not dazzled by them. There are plenty of people who are dazzled by them (including me in certain circumstances).

The point is, that even if it is a small number of people who are dazzled, you don't know that the next person you're heading towards isn't one of them and will be unable to see the white lines that mean the difference between them carrying safely on their way or drifting into either the hedge at 60mph or you at a combined speed of 120mph.

No
:censored: (edited to avoid the squabling we're now free of)
I dont think there is any malice in it, perhaps you speed read the posts - i know i do sometimes and that is when i miss things ;)

What i mean is that the large majority of people i have known or heard to speak in general discussion on the subject say it makes not a blind bit of difference (excuse the pun). I beleive that, like me, the majority of people hardly use them, but do not speak up on the issue as it sets you up for a lynching. Just because i do not join the conformist rant about the evils of front fog lights, i must be some kind of boy racer who goes wheelspinning round the neighbourhood lights a-blazing and shattering everyone's windows with my thumping garage/house music.

There needs to be a little bit of common sense - its probably largely the same people in the anti fog light brigade that make it no more illegal to have totally illegible letters on your number plate as it is to move a single poxy letter about 1/4 of an inch!

Dear Sir!

I resent the implication that moving letters a poxy inch is any less legal than an illegible numberplate!

The problem with moving number plate letters even a poxy inch is that from a distance these letters moved closer to one another can appear to form a totally different character which is often the effect these people are looking for, hence 1 3 becomes a 13 or a "B" from a distance etc etc which isn't the point of having a plate... and another thing........................er..actually I'm quite chilled about all of this, no offence taken Mr Awol, I've always felt a little unhinged ;)

 OK OK ;) I am as against illegible number plates as anyone. That is why (if they ever get here! Grrrrr) my number plates have been ordered in standard UK font. I have had the colours and pictures on the border pre-approved by the local plod, and generally i feel my plate will still be perfectly legible. All i have done is move the format from

letter letter letter s p a c e number letter

to

letter s p a c e letter letter number letter

Which i dont think makes it any more difficult to read at all.

If you think about the plate SAU 549E, which went for £5,600 at the auction i went to, fiddling with the '549' to make it look more like 'SAUSAGE' will make it EASIER to read/remember in an accident or crime, but the old bill will do ya for making it HARDER to read? ;)

By the way, that post was edited coz for some reason you cant leave a big space between words.

Also, I wasnt saying people SHOULD be able to 'play with their SAUSAGE' to make it look more impressive ( ;) ) but i honestly do think moving letters or numbers from one group to another should be fair game
