Ah but the CC is forever sending me messages- every morning it flashes up "ice alert" (its cold where I live!). When you are running low on petrol it also tells you.

Plus if it becomes blank you will loose all the computer information such as mpg, trip computer, temperature outside and time etc etc

I got my CC in novemeber and then discovered this site! It really made me worry! lol Finding all the faults etc!

I had a few minor wee probs and have also installed some new ICE and bigger wheels! Was worried bout the whole warranty thing but put it in the garage last week and all faults where covered under the warranty!

So yes definatley worth it! Every penny! Gets u noticed! And on days like today its great to cruise around with the roof down! :D

I am living with the fitted cd player at the moment, as I am not entirely sure what happens to the integrated display once you put a different unit in- don't think I could live with an error message popping up!
So ask someone and find out :D

There are 3 sections on the display (multiplex models). The top line for the radio (station, volume etc), the bottom line for the computer functions (mpg, speed, distance etc) and the right hand side (clock & temp).

When you remove the Clarion you lose the top (radio) line of the display. That's it. No error message.

I reckon the Clarion CD player is alright. It does the job and sounds OK to me.

I've never been one for serious ICE in a car, as the acoustics are always so crap. Far better to spend the money on engine upgrades so you can get home quicker to listen to a proper stereo :D

Or as Enzo Ferrari said, you should be listening to the 'mechanical music' instead (mind you, a Ferrari V12 has a bit more character than a 4-pot 2-litre Pug engine.....)

Id only say that in my opinion its worth getting the 2.0L with leather rather than the 1.6 if you can afford the little extra on insurance etc, cos the bit more is worth all the extra standard kit the 2 litre SE gives you and the extra bhp output.
As much as I'd think about it, after a series of nightmares....
1) Someone pulling out in front of me (have you ever tried explaining to insurance companies that even though you hit the car it was their fault for pulling out when you were metres away?) I Won :D
2) A coving stone falling on my windscreen and bonnet off an old folks home, council property but 'Unforseen circumstances' (Thought that's what insurance was for) I Lost
3) Some W :censored: r breaking my window at 5.30 am and staring into my car (I know it was 5.30 as I disturbed him)
4) Same W :censored: r coming back 2 days later to break the same window again, steal my head unit then after realising there was a CD changer punching 2 holes in my back windscreen, which on a Tigra is pretty big with lots of glass I can tell you. Luckily he didn't get my changer seeing as it's bolted into the car. I Lost

Hence I have no no claims :( and my insurance is already over £1000 for my Tigra!

I tend to take my fella along which does seem to help, although to be honest I think I embarrass him when I begin to argue! I also tend to phone my friend who's a technician for BMW a lot to make sure I'm not wrong before I argue!! I do not like being wrong!

The Clarion doesn't play MP3s though ;)

True, but CD burners and blank CDs are cheap. You can even use CD-RWs if you want...

If someone keeps breaking into your car for the stereo- do you think putting a decent one in would be worth it?

At least if they steal the fitted one it would be useless!

Greg: Yes dirty cc! :D
Volunteers for car washing much appreciated- someone told me it was unwise to take a new car through a car wash (untill paint settled), and I have been too busy with horses when it is sunny.

Think the guy who stole it may well have been high or something. It's the type of stereo that has a masked front so you're not supposed to remove it, you just have a remote for it, about the size of a credit card which you need if ever the battery is disconnected. A 4 key sequence has to be pressed (not just numbers) and if you lose your code or remote, you have to prove you are the genuine owner, reciepts, proof of ID etc to get a new remote or code.
Now I'm sure criminals have their own way around things like this but equally when the police told me what town he was from it was obvious that he would be missing a brain in the first place. This was the only time I'd had stereo related trouble in 2 years and no one has touched it since. The sound quality and shear appearance of the thing make it well worth it.
