I have spent the day browsing your site seeing am I'm poorly!
Am booked to test drive a 206cc next Monday.
If all goes welll there I will be ordering a black 1.6 (due to insurance) with extra bits on it here and there.
I have been told that I will not be able to have my beloved Sony CD player and changer installed in it as this will corrupt the warranty which was the first thing that annoyed me. Then I must admit I'm a little put off getting one after reading on here about countless lists of problems.
Does anyone REALLY regret buying one? :?:

Id only say that in my opinion its worth getting the 2.0L with leather rather than the 1.6 if you can afford the little extra on insurance etc, cos the bit more is worth all the extra standard kit the 2 litre SE gives you and the extra bhp output.

Yeah the warranty thing sounds wrong - lots of people here have mods (we're talking about fitting all new speakers, extra wiring, amps/subs in boot, new headunits etc) and have no problem with warranty.

Only issue might be for example if something goes wrong as a direct result of the mods you make - ie you accidentally cut the wrong wire etc.

If you're not comfortable putting the kit in yourself, get a good company to do it for you - they will provide their own guarantee on the work.

hi there .... err replacing the head unit voids the warrenty does it ? I'm really surprised at that ... a) cause the owners handbook twell you how to do it b)- cause the dealership offer an option to change it for you and c) my dealership has never had a go at me and in fact thing it's ace and allways want demos of it AND i've had warrenty work ... i would think of a different dealship if i were you !!!

if it's any intrest i was running a sony head uint with no problems for about a year, i''ve just pulled that out and replaced it with dvd head unit and playstation 2 system .. my dealership was well impressed !!!

btw the cars ace buy it buy it !!!

To void the warranty they have to prove that your modifications could have caused the failure.

e.g. add new head unit, something in electrical system blows up -- not covered under warranty

but add new head unit, end up with holed piston -- covered under warranty

HTH :D

[Just buy it -- it's got to be better than the alternatives for the same money. Vectra or Mondeo? Ugh!]

Thanks for the good news about the stereo, I guess it's a risk us girls take although I'm not totally unknowledgeable about cars I think we do get screwed at times about certain things. Garages have tried it enough with me in the past with my current car. Luckily I have enough about me to have managed to get a lot done for free or at least to have claimed money back after, have a long list of complaints with my car which is why I was concerned about buying another with so many things to potentially go wrong! Paying to get my stereo done is not a problem at all and if it does not affect the warranty then it looks like I'll have my ideal car and stereo in about a month....can't wait (providing it all goes okay!!)

P.S. Thanks for all of your welcome wishes

I have to admit the stereo thing irritated me, I had the Sony MP3 player which I loved (14-16 albums at your fingertips and faster than a CD changer)

I am living with the fitted cd player at the moment, as I am not entirely sure what happens to the integrated display once you put a different unit in- don't think I could live with an error message popping up! :)

You do definitely get noticed in the CC, I haven't had any problems, although it is irritating when the brakes squeal!!

Well if it's anything like in my current car (a Tigra) the display window just becomes blank and redundant, which I have been able to live with......no error message!
