I see a middle-aged woman (I think) every day on the way to work in her moonstone 1.6 and she is always in the wrong lane at the daily jam through the tunnel and cases both lanes to back up as she pulls in without indicating and doesn't acknowledge anyone although she saw my car roof down on monday and nearly hit someone whilst looking across at me.

I think CCs are the type of car that people like to acknowledge fellow drivers. My first car was a VW Camper van and all drivers of those waved and flashed their lights. I think Beetle drivers are the same. Any cool car I think the drivers should club together.

Hey Nik, air cooled rools! Our 76 westphalia died in 1995 and has been parked in the garage (yes, the CC is outside) until Steve decides to fix it. About every six months, he frees off the brakes, she comes out, starts up, turns round and goes back in again

Pauline, mine was an M reg (whatever year that was) Devon conversion. Orange and White. And I loved it. His name was RifRaf. Had to give him away to a good home in the end as couldn't afford to repair him.
Used to live in PLymouth at the time so was great to see all the VW's on the Run to The Sun.
Now that is an event where everyone smiles and waves to each other

Just revisited this thread which i have to say was one of the funniest in this forum since my time here. It started when I was 40 and it's taken me three years to get round to re-reading it.
I have to say, that the older I get, the more the 'middle aged' threshold changes. At 43 i will not reach middle age for.... ...about another 20 years or so!

I have to agree that most people I see driving them are 'middle aged women' the problem is, they all look so snotty as if to say I'm above you so shall not wave, kinda thing. lol.
But when you think about it, like someone so rightly mentioned, they've had to wait until they were middle aged to be able to buy it, and I'd just turned 19 when I bought mine....so why do they feel they have the right to look at me and sneer?!?
I have to honestly say, I'm not a feminist, lol, but being a woman I do like to stick up for us once in a while....however I find even doing that a little uneasy with all the hard faced old c*ws that live near me.
I think that you should live life to the fullest, and there's nothing at all wrong with 'middle aged women' driving flashy cars...as long as they're friendly while their doing it!
God, I'll be driving with my roof don till I'm 85, lol, and still waving like a loon!!!
People say that the 'youth of today have no manners' I think it's the opposite, there's not soooooooo many cc's round my end, but the only nice one's that smile or wave happen to be young men...he he. Coincidence?!?

Yeah! WTG!.... God, I'll be driving with my roof don till I'm 85, lol, and still waving like a loon!!!
It's only the old stuck in the muds that say that...people that are young but who have grown old before their time, or people who are older but have conveniently forgotten what it was like to be young. I suspect every generation goes through the 'people today have no manners' routine. What they need is a good convertible, the wind in their hair and a decent Sterophonics playing in the sunlight. That would loosen up those starched britches and bloomers!.... People say that the 'youth of today have no manners'

Ok you guys have me convinced. I'm going to start waving at people driving convertibles and see what happens. Feedback on Sunday! There is nothing i like more than being in a nice car and being waved at or flashed by someone else in the same/ similar car, not had it yet in the CC but it happens alot in the husbands car and some of my previous cars... takes the boredom out of the everyday trudge through traffic.....

Ok i promised I'd let you know how i got on and here are the results. I did not confine my waving to CC drivers. I extended it to drivers of convertibles. With one exception, we have had great weather, so many of the drivers had their tops down. For information, i live in a semi-rural part of the Midlands.Ok you guys have me convinced. I'm going to start waving at people driving convertibles and see what happens. Feedback on Sunday!
Soooooooo....
I waved to five CC drivers. One waved back....everyone else ignored me.
I flashed (car lights guys) at two CC drivers and got a beep of a horn from one. (Not sure if that was in lieu of a wave or he was just p'd off.) The other one was to let him out onto a busy junction, and i got a thankyou wave, but that doesn't count.
I also waved at open top Meganes, BMWs, MGs and I think there were a couple of ford convertible thingies. A child in the back of the megane waved at me, and the mother seemed to view me with suspicion. Actually i was quite embarressed as we were on a duel carriageway and she kept catching up with me and giving me the once over! I just pretended not to look.
That's about all I remember to be honest. On the whole, people just didn't wave back. And no, I don't have a breakdown of sex's, ages or political persuasion...sorry
[What is extremely sad is that I enjoyed keeping a log! Somebody bring out the white jacket NOW!
