Multifunction Display Bulbs

Post by susan »

Hi, does the display (it shows MPG and what radio station etc) have bulbs and how do I replace them, as it's lit but just in the middle. Its 2004 1600cc 206cc.
Thanks for any info, Sue

Pull the cover off and you will see 3 or 4 bulb holders.

Small 2W capless bulbs.

There are two different types of bulb. When I renewed a relative's I took out one of the bulbs and took it into the Peugeot main dealer as a sample so that they could identify which one. They are not interchangeable.

Hi and thank you, thank you, for your replies. When you say pull the cover off, is that the plastic hood that the display is set in, does it just unclip somehow? Really appreciate both of your helps. :)
Thanks, Sue

Hi, no worries, cover removed fairly easily and display now looks much better.
Thanks again, Sue

Did it just unclip off. At some point I need to get a bulb for one side but I was not looking forward to dismantling the dashboard.

Yes it just unclips. I think you just push it forward (towards the windscreen) then pull up. It is easy and takes seconds.

I think the bulbs might be 12v 1.2 watt T5 capless bulbs.

Finally replaced these bulbs. Now the display is clearly lit up. I notice the button on the clock dash acts as a dimmer switch, the buttons either side are used for setting up time but how do you change the display. At the moment it just has the date, time and temperature outside.

That's probably all you will get unless your car is fitted and configured for other functions ... which work off a button on the end of the column stalks .. not all 206s had all the top end features and you can't just swap out the MFD and get them either.

As gazza says toggle through the various display modes by pressing the end of the right hand stalk. All explained in the owners manual page 79.

Prior to pulling the unit out to change the bulbs it did display a variety of information. The stalk did not seem to do anything.

Edit. Yes the stalk works the display. Pity it does not operate the sterio which I guess is non standard.

You probably don't have the MFD or BSI that support any additional features other than clock and temp ..

Radio stalk may be the separate one on the right.

A 2002 original radio doesn't have a separate screen and works through the MFD ... you may have a non-standard headunit .. can't tell without pics!
