on a 206 how do you remove it looks weird

You undo the plastic casing using the nut shape on the end. Element is a paper filter that fits into casing. Screw it back on.

just tryed with mole grips very tight mind you so was the sump nut some one likes there spanners lol :oops:

thats a first had to use a breaker bar exertion and socket never seen a filter so tight. :mad:

The filter cover/cap should only be torqued up to 18 lbf ft (25 Nm). Someone must have been a bit brutal.

The sump plug should be 22 lbf ft (30 Nm) according to Haynes.

I think that there is a rubber seal between the housing and block which suffers over time and (guesssing) a quick remedy would be to add more torque. Mine leaked a bit and the garage said that they had to order the seal separately as it is not included with a new filter. Plausible?

More likely they didn't change the seal and it leaked. I've always got a new seal with the filter.
