Hi everyone. I left my car for 3 weeks without using it. I am fairly certain I had everything turned off, when I came back the battery was completely flat not even a single light. It is a 6 month old battery and the only new thing in the car is a new aftermarket stereo.
My mechanic drove over and he brought a charger that he connected to the battery and charged it for about 15 minutes turned it on and it was working. I drove around and it has been working though this morning I had to turn the key and listen to a longer then normal starting sound. I only drove it a total of about 1 hour after the jumping charge.
Since it was only 3 weeks after complete discharge of a 6 month battery should i be concerned and go have all the electrics checked to see if there is a parasitic drain.
Also should I take this battery to someone to slow charge it or is it enough to rely on the alternator.
Cheers!

Re: Battery Flat
If I were you I would invest in something like an Optimate charger - you can get them for about £40 new on eBay. They are a charger, but they are also a "battery conditioner" - that is, they will charge a battery from flat in extreme conditions, but ordinarily monitor the charge of the bettery and simply keep it topped-up.

Re: Battery Flat
If you have eliminated things like glovebox ot boot light staying on, I would be looking at either the new battery being faulty, or more likely the new stereo or associated wiring.
They have 2 power supplies, one for the memory (permanant supply) and one for powering it (ignition switch controlled)
Either way it shouldn't go flat in 3 weeks
