Re: car wont start after a shot circuit
Thanks Capncol,
I checked all the fuses, both int he Engine and underneath the sterring wheel, no luck!
The Engine cranks, but thats just about it, it cant pick up... could it be something to do with the key code?
regards

Re: car wont start after a shot circuit
Difficult to do an "armchair diagnostic" I wouldn't have thought you would lose the keycode, but anythings possible.
Was it the battery cable or a wire behind the dash you shorted?
Does everything else work? (wipers, lights, horn etc:)

Re: car wont start after a shot circuit
I short the Radio power cable (Pin No. 7 permanent +12V)to the metallic casing of the radio it self.
The key remote functions don't work, i.e. opening and closing the door remotely (you have to insert and turn the key on the door to open up the door.) Everything else seems to be working well, only that the engine doesn't start. I'll check again to be double sure everything else work.
I disconnected the battery awaiting a solution.

Did you follow the battery disconnection method as shown on this site?

I did think that myself, but trying to eliminate the rest first.
Hope he hasn't.
BTW Re- check fuse 7 (passenger comp) 15a.

Re: car wont start after a shot circuit
I went and checked again all the functions.. and the following do not work; wipers, indicators, headlights, fog lights, remote functions of the key i.e opening and closing the door. In fact the only thing that seems to work is the lowering and raising of window. On switch on the dash board light up, than when trying to start, the engine only cranks up and thats about it.. at this rate the battery will soon be drained.
I checked the fuses both in the Engine and under the steering wheel, they all seemed ok.
What do I check now?

I think Shadow is right, sounds like you've fried BSI unit.
You haven't answered-
"Did you follow battery disconnect method?"

Re: car wont start after a shot circuit
Then you have almost certainly fried the BSI. You can either get a secondhand BSI, ECU & Ign key transponder with the same part numbers as yours, or get your BSI repaired then take the car to a dealer to get the BSI program reloaded.
Sorry. It's not good news I'm afraid.

Re: car wont start after a shot circuit
Hey, thanks..
I got it sorted. It was a burnt fuse after all, I seems to have missed it when checking. however the key had to be remapped.
the car is now back on the road roaring like a curb. thanks.
