Hi everyone,

Newbie here, great site by the way! Gotta prob with my roof at the moment, tried to open it one day and was greeted by a constant beep and no roof movement. This beeping is now becoming very annoying and sounds everytime the car is NOT stationery. Ther is also no bleep to confirm roof catches are unclipped. I need help urgent as i cant stand the bleeping anymore,

Thanks

Hi Willow, and welcome to the forum,
Sounds like a sensor.
swinter & simes produced a useful thread which may be of use to you. They had similar symptoms to you which they managed to sort out.

Hi Willow,

I've had some recent troubles with my roof and finally tracked it down to a loose plug/socket connection in the wiring of one of the microswtiches. I figured out the control logic of the roof opening & closing sequence (see my recent posting).

If the roof failed to start opening and you got a warning sound, perhaps the controller thought that the curtain was not drawn across in the boot (check microswitch). It might be due to a faulty microswitch at the manual clamps, making the controller think that it was unsafe to open. However, I've just tried operating the roof with the manual clamps shut, and there was no warning alarm. It just prevented the windows from openign automatically.

If you're getting the alarm above 5 mph, then the controller thinks the roof is not fully clamped which could be for a number of reasons:
1. Manual clamps do not appear to be shut properly (faulty microswitches there perhaps, but these are very difficult to get at)
2. Boot lid does not appear to be shut properly (faulty microswitches at boot locks, or faulty connection in wiring to these switches)
3. The controller thinks it is in the middle of the opening sequence (due to previous attempt to open)

It might be worth 'resetting' everything by disconnecting the battery and letting the brains do a reboot (you've got your radio security code, right?). Before trying to open the roof, does it still beep above 5mph? If so, then check the boot lid lock switches and wiring. If not, then have a go at opening the roof and see what happens.

BTW, I donb't think there ia any 'beep' when the roof catches are unclipped. You only get a beep at the end of the opening or closing sequence.

Good luck!

Hi

This seems really useful, but would resetting work if it just seems like the clip on the left hand side of the boot doesnt seem to be clicking in - and on closing the roof it just carries on whirring as if its not catching somewhere that it should be?

HELP!!

Thanks :)
