Hello,

Next year i think i might upgrade my little 206cc to a 307cc, Twintop or a VW Eos.

Whats peoples thoughts on the three, which offers the best drive and value for money?

Oh and what model to go for.

I know i should ask on a Vauxhall/VW forum but i havent found a good one yet.

Hi there...

I'm thinking on the upgrade to in the next couple years...

I didn't drive test any of them but my personal preference is the Astra... there is/will be also the Renault Megane and Ford Focus to consider, but my main bet would be Astra or Focus... The VW Eos is also a good choice but probably too expensive :(

My 2cents
Pedro.

I would pass on the tiagra. Was gonna buy one instead of the 206 but they are no different to drive than a corsa except they are a convertable.

Used to have a corsa and it gets very boring to drive.

The Astra's are nice. Would recommend test driving and the handling isn't the greatest!

I love the look of the twintop, not had a chance to test drive yet though. I'll be interested to see what the 207cc is like when it eventually comes on the market but I think I'll probably be looking at the twintop

Hmm! Out of the cars already available I liked the Renault Meganes drive. I wouldn’t mind a Copen, but it would just be a town car and probably be classed as the wives car. The VW Eos is the best-looking IMO. And the Volvo the most practical. I would not touch a Vauxhall with anyone else’s money let alone my own. CZC and Micra just look crap IMO and don’t offer anything over the 206cc

But if you can manage with 2 seats Mazda are going to offer a CC version of the MX5. Now that should drive well and have similar performance to the 206. The 207cc is due late next year and could be worth a look. However I have seen some Photos of the next pug 308 and that looks like something else. I have only seen hatchback versions, but a CC version has got to be on the cards and looks to be worth the wait.

After nearly 4 years with our 206cc we had a simlar decision to make. We looked at the 307cc. But the shape the and the handling did not impress. Similar issues with the large "rear end" discounted the Focus and the Megane, leaving us with the Twintop and the Eos. After (several!) test drives in each we've placed an order for the Eos.
The Twintop was a nice car, but was not as well screwed together as the Eos. It shook over the bumps, something the Eos does not. The Eos generally handled much better too, and to our eyes the shape looks more thought through. The Eos looks like it's been designed as an open top from the start, rather than being a hatchback with the roof removed :-)
One definite thing in the Eos favour is that you can genuinely get two adults in the back without crushing their knees!
We went for the 2 litre sport with Leather. It is more expensive than the twintop, but worth it in our view. If you want speed then the 2 litre Turbo (out of the Golf GTI) has lots of it!

Reallyu enjoyed that mini review.

Is there anything else you could add?
Whats the difference between models of the Eos and the 2 litre turbo is that diesel? do you know the mpg?

I had a look at the twintop a couple of months back and the first thing that struck me was how complicated the roof mechanism was, it you thought the the 206cc would go wrong then seeing the astra roof and you'd definately be shitting yourself. Reminded me a bit of that citroen advert when it turns into a robot and goes ice skating, so that kinda put me off.

Saw a EOS for the first time this morning and it is definately the best looking out of the cc cars but a tad expensive

Watching the Eos on a video looked like watching a transformer :P very cool.

What sort of price are you getting one for? Do they offer much of a discount? Whats the waiting time on one?

prices are about £20k and thats for a low spec one, unless the car supremarkets can get them cheaper then its a no go for me. I'd rather spend the money on a BMW or Audi cab
