Help needed - I have just had to have both wish bones replaced on a car that has only done 37,000 miles. Peugeot have said that they consider this to be wear and tear. To cap it all the clutch has also gone. I would not mind but I have never had these parts replaced on any other car I have owned in the last 18 years. Any help would be appreciated

I haven't heard of anyone having problems with wishbones or the clutch, I certainly haven't had any issues with either and mine is coming up to 70000 miles and had her 5th birthday yesterday.

The problem with any steering and suspension parts these days is that they take such a hammering from "traffic calming" measures such as "speed cushions", "sleeping policemen", whatever you like to call them. It is not just Peugeots that are affected. I'm afraid that 30k+ miles is becoming the norm for people living in traffic-calmed urban areas. The front tyres on my Merc have worn badly on the inside edges - not because of the tracking, but because of straddling each side of speed cushions as one drives over them. Of course, these so-called safety measures may well affect your clutch too, as you slow down and speed up again, changing gear more often as a result. If you do a lot of town driving your clutch will wear quicker than if most of your driving is on the motorway. I personally would expect a clutch to last at least 60/70,000 miles but it all depends on one's driving technique. My son gets through them more quickly, but then again, he tries to do 0-60 in 10 seconds every time! Regards, Ron
