Car locking by itself

A few months ago my wifes car had a new drivers door solenoid fitted. Shortly afterwards the car started to lock on its own. It would not do it at the dealers but after a while sorted itself out. It has now started to lock on its own again. It does not set the alarm or the immobiliser. could this be a fault in the drivers door solenoid or possibly another problem. It is now out of warranty so I would like to tackle this myself. Has any one had this problem.

reap had an answer.
Hope it might help you too.
It will be one of the actuator/solenoids in the doors.

Listen to Lyndon, he's helpful and seems to know what he's doing.
I've never had the door card off the 206CC. Last time it happened was on my 205GT and that will have been different. I'll take a look at the 206CC tomorrow and see if I can tell you what is involved exactly. Don't want to remove mine unnecessarily though. Have you carried out a check to see if you can tell which side is faulty?
Central locking problems are a known frequent failure with 206's I'm afraid. I hear that dealers charge about £250 per door to put them right.
There is also this note from Honest John's web site that you should note:
Reports of water getting into electric door locking control box of late 1998/early 1999 build cars (hatchbacks). Easy DIY replacement using Haynes manual, saves typical £55 garage labour cost (part alone £75). (Peugeot Customer Services will sometimes pay for the job.) Water gets in through bonnet vent and plenum chamber underneath is not well drained so drips are carried in through vents in the control box.
Worth checking?
Regards, Ron

Yep, just had a look. Lyndon's correct. I saw 1 torx screw at the front of the panel, one at the rear, and a screw in the chrome door handle (bottom edge of it where it joins the inner section of the handle). Can't see screws along the bottom of the door on my car, looks like poppers will be there. Use the special tool or a wide screwdriver, but use something like thin card to protect your paintwork and the door card. Once you've popped one you should have more room to get in at the rest.
Don't forget to check for damp in that control box mentioned in the Honest John column. I'd do that first before starting to take the door apart unless you've carried out tests to see which side solenoid is playing up.
Good luck, Ron
