Hi all... I've had a quick search for similar topics but none really answer my query on cycle racks... I recently purchased and used this cycle rack on my CC: http://tinyurl.com/henwu I've had no difficulty fitting and securing it but worry it might put unacceptable stresses on the boot/roof mechanism (i.e. damage it). It's one of those racks that has a couple of straps/hooks that connect to the chassi below the bumper and a couple of straps/hooks that secure them selves by being closed in the hinged part of the boot lid.

My questions are:

Is this a suitable bike rack?
Will it damage the roof/boot mechanism as it sort of loads the boot lid in the way it carries the bikes?
Is there a specific carrier I should be using (i.e. a Peugeot approved one)?

Many thanks for your advice...

The cc has an optional luggage rack available for it, imagine the weight on the lid when you've got a couple of suitcases strapped to ii! The manual says your not to use the electric roof when the luggage rack has a load strapped to it (common sense really), I guess the same would apply to a cycle rack it's perfectly safe to use when there's no load, just don't ever use the roof when you've got a cycle on the back. The weight difference between an empty cycle rack and an empty luggage rack wont be that much different.
My CC: 2.0 Silver/Black 03, SP Wheel Arches & Grill, Twin Headlamp Conv. Rear Lexus Style Lamps, Chrome Bumper Inserts & Side Mouldings, Impact CC Boot Spoiler with Side Repeaters, Front Splitter, Black/Red Leather Interior with Chrome Roll Bars.

my concern is that the weight of the cycles is not pushing down on the boot lid, rather it would be pulling up and backwards thus putting strain on the motors (or locking mechanism) and is it designed with that stess in mind?
