Lights on buttons around aircon display not working

Problem 1

I have a 2001 2.0 206cc which I bought but the buttons (Off, Auto, Fan +-, etc) around the air con display dont come on with the lights so you cant see them at night.

I have tried to dismantle the dash to get to the back but there are 2 connectors which I cannot remove.

I've checked the fuses and they are all ok, I think its on the same fuse as the ashtray light and that works.

One thing that does work is the backlight on the air con display (same unit) which also dims when you turn on the headlights.

Problem 2

When I pull away in first gear, the car shudders as it pulls off, this is slightly noticable in other gears but mainly in first.

Any ideas anyone?

first prob is bulds have gone in control unit. about 5 small ones in there.easy to change and yes the connectors do come off.

second sounds like a faulty clutch, grabbing. many miles on the car?
only a guess as i havent seen nor driven the car.

Thanks for the reply, do I have to remove and open the control unit to get to the bulbs or can I change them without removing/dismantling the unit?

Not so good news about the clutch if its faulty, the cars done 44k miles, are clutch replacements pricey for the 206s?

Thanks for the info, I've managed to change the bulbs now, although I've come across this small fan which was hanging behind the facia (see picture -

Any ideas where it clips to? The fan runs with the engine on.

cant see pics of the fan

but as a guess id say it was the one that flows internal air over the temprature sensor to regulate the climate control.
usally sits behind the passenger air bag.you will see some slits in the dash near the centre of the car on the airbag.it goes behind there.

peugeout fitted clutch(if it is the clutch)costs about Â£350ish pounds.

Think I'll take the car in to get the clutch looked at after xmas, hopefully it wont need a new one !
