Adjusting Rear Torsion

Right, ive had a good read through the forum cos i want to lower my 206cc now ive had my 17's put on. My car is climbing the stairway to heaven and i want it lowered properly with no grief.

From what ive read the ideal setup is

30mm Eibach springs up front - are these the pro ones?
Lower rear torsion 1 notch at back - correctly by removing the torsion bars and not just removing the torx that hold the radius arms and lifting it up ( CHEERS WEBCODE)
Uprate torsion bar to GTI (19.5mm)
Uprate Anti Roll bar GTI (21mm)

Does anyone know where i can get this done where they know what their doing? Im in SW London or Essex

Also whats the cost of the GTI parts, is it necessary to do both the upgrades or just the torsion bars will do?

Yep the Eibach Pro springs are the ones..

The Torsion bars are £35 approx each and the Antiroll bar is £40ish..

Peugeot Part numbers for the torsion bars are:

5150-78 & 5150-80.. Note that they are sided and will be marked differently.. So make sure you put them the correct way round..

I would definately change the Torsion bars at a minimum..

i went to Xtreme racing in essex and they've really put me off the idea of lowering the car. They said that 206's are a bit hit and miss when lowering them - talking about the bearing collapse.
I mentioned that surely theres a correct way of doing this without the risk and he assured me that they'd done thousands of them and about 1 in 50 have the torsion bar collapse on them. Thats not exactly what i want whilst travelling down to my boyfs on M25.

I really need to go somewhere where they know what there doing cos they dont sound too sure about it all. Plus he said i didnt neetd to upgrade the torsion bar and anti roll bar which kindda made me think they dont know what there doing

Webcode do you know anywhere decent? prefebly down south

The bearings are only a problem when they remove the arms from the axle tube. If they lower it properly without removing the arms then it isn't a problem.

Will uprating your torsion bars to GTi spec make much difference? Bearing in mind how much stiffer the Eibach springs are than the originals, i'd go for some GTi 180 torsion bars.

Does the front ARB differ on the CC to that on the GTi? If it does i'd replace both front and rear bars.

The 2.0 CC and GTi use the same Front ARB.. The rear is a different diameter as noted above..

The 180 torsion bars are the same diameter as the Gti.

Yes the bearings only collapse when the Radius arms are knocked off the beam.. (actually they don't really collapse, generally the needle rollers fall out of the bearing carrier.. Thats when the problems start)..
Of course knocking the arms off is the Wrong way of lowering.. It is however the quickest way of doing it.. Well to save 20 mins that is.

GTi 138 torsion bars come with either 19mm or 19.5mm torsion bars.
180's come with 20mm bars.
