catalytic convertor fault and antipollution fault

seem to have inherited the same prob as many! initially would start , idle like a taxi and then conk out when go to move, antipollution.cat convertor warning and yellow warning light came on, 2 times to garage 1st said all ok, 2nd said fine now download software! surprisingly none worked. this time conked out pulling out of junction - once conks out and restarts then runs ok. this time yellow light flasjing. now told due to recognised prob with cam followers. now modified in new engine as found to cause this fault- battling with peugeot to pay £900 to repair as warranty out(2yrs as import) but extended peugeot warranty wont pay as say not broken just not working right due to way made??!! have 2002 2.0cc

we are just going through a similar thing as you describe and the garage have diagnosed a cam follower issue and need for software update, this apparently causes issues for the cat protection sensor which is why it flashes its little yellow light.
They are repairing ours under warrenty (its an import) and have never made any silly comments about where it was meant to come from (which of course is irelivant) Modern cars have plenty of sensors which check out the ambiant temperature and adjust settings accordingly, the only places that have any extra problems are Mexico (altitude apparently?) and parts of america where the emmisions rules mean extra bits have to be added to the car.
I suggest you go back to the dealer and ask them to reconsider their position based on the fact that it is a known peugeot problem, or fit the cam followers yourself, its bound to be simple to do!

thanks for info- so far extended warranty will cover 4 cam followers and labour but we ned to pay for other 12, but £250 instead of £870 isnt bad. peugeot uk wont contribute as import so we are forwarding bill to peugeot spain- lucky i have friend who can argue very well in spanish!
hope this sorts the problem!! wouldnt be funny if it turns out to be something else- and at least i dont have to go knit it a woolly hat and socks!!
