I have only had my 206cc for 3 weeks, after a week the oil level indicator started flashing, according to the 206cc handbook there was a fault. This didn't appear the next time i started the car. Then one week later it started again this time according to the book there was too much oil in the car, again went away the next time i switched the car on. Today it was flashing again, i have booked it into my local Peugeot dealer but i was wondering if this is a common fault. Also, i think that the engine is very noisy and it also seems to not tick over properly, again is this a common.
I love my new car but was a little worried that i had brought a dud, if you can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know anything about noisy engines, TJ, but I think that the oil level indicator is notoriously inaccurate! Mine is exactly the same - when I first got the car I was forever checking my dipstick but there was never a problem there. It very much depends on where you parked your car - if it isn't on the level then it won't give an accurate reading.
Life's too short to drive around with your roof up.

Thanks for the advice guys. Had a different problem yesterday. Went and picked husband up from station when got home opened the car and there was a beeping noise, the noise it makes when something isn't shut or the boot shelf isn't across I then tried to lock the car but it was having none of it. I then took it down to Peugeot to see if they could help, the helpful assistant (can you hear the sarcasam) said he couldn't. I went back to the car and it unlocked with the fob, BUT, i then tried to start the car but the immoboliser wasn't stoping the car from starting. I thought i was either going to kick the car or cry so i left it for a few minutes, walked away, came back and low and behold the car was fine again. WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT.
I can see that this is a problem that many of you are having, but boy it made me mad. Is this something i should expect. The car is going to Peugeot tomorrow so i am hoping they will be able to help.

First can i ask where you got the car from?
I hope not, but this sounds like the same problems i had with the car i rejected, and i know that the dealer had the car up for sale on there forcourt. (warrick wright city)
First the oil problem you are having is in most cases due to the reading when the car is hot or cold, in my case it was a sensor problem which they could not fix. (the car went to them 4 times for the same problem)
The best way to check the oil is with the dipstick once a week.
As for the Beep you are getting.
Is it when you are driving?
If it is, then did it happen when you hit a bump or went over a hill?
if the answer is yes then try and lower the roof. if the roof does not work then i suggest that you get the car to t he dealer and ask them to look at the alinement of the boot.

Thanks for the help. I brought the car in Maidstone so i hope this isn't the car that you rejected.
The car went to Peugeot Maidstone yesterday and they have done a couple of upgrades which seems to have stoped the problem, but if you read other peoples comments i think the problems can come back.
The problem with the beeping only happened when the car was stopped and the door was opened, i think it was something to do with the car thinking that something was not shut properly.
I hope that everything will be ok now, but you can only live in hope.

To be honest I'd give up on the oil level gauge. Stick to checking the dipstick. Do you park on a slope?You are never going to believe this. My car was in Peugeot on Monday to sort out the oil level problems. Picked it up everything seemed fine after the upgrade then Wednesday morning i turn the engine on and low and behold the problem is back.

The 206cc goes back to the garage tomorrow morning, my car is an import so normally they don't offer a curtesey car but as this will be the 4th visit for the same fault they are letting me have a car this time.
I am nearly to the point of telling them to disable the oil sensor light.
Does anybody else have the same problem, if so have you had it sorted and HOW??

I had the same problem. Dealer changed the oil sensor and then after some time inaccurate came back
After that they updated software and that (nearly) fixed the problem. Nowdays sometimes it's inaccurate, but usually it's working just great.
