Hy,guys,my name is Alex and I live in Romania...an year ago I became the owner of a 307 1.6 litre,Rieger Edition...I am writing to you in order to ask your opinion about the catalytic converter...does anyone know what the consequences upon the engine would e in case I decide to remove the catalytic converter...it seems i would obtain between 5 and 10 HP,a very good thing,i believe...the laws in Romania are not so rough,so it's no problem if my car doesn't have the Euro 3 level of pollution no more...please tell me your opinion in order to know what to do...good luck to you all

I'd guess your car has 2 lambda sensors. 1 upstream of the cat and 1 downstream.
UK spec cars have level 4 emission controls and even though you are outside the UK i can't see Peugeot making your car different.
The second lambda is expecting to see exhaust gasses that have been converted within the CAT.
If you remove the cat the second sensor won't be getting what it's expected to see and the ECU will change the mixtures until it see's what it's expecting - something which just won't happen.
You might get away with it but as the injection/ignition system is designed to run with the cat as part of it i reckon you won't see the power gains you'd expect.

indeed, the 1.6 litre configuration is provided with 2 lambda sensors, one in front of the cat,the second one after the cat...so it seems the second sensor is analyzing the good job the cat is doing...
...i think removing the cat is no longer a good idea, the consumption might grow due to the wrong information the lamba sensors would provide or the engine might work worst than ever or not at all...thank you,teddy206gti
