Seeing as my CC is not having its manifold replaced today, while I was there i asked about having my bumpers and side strips body coloured (even though my side strips are already, by me) only to hear that I would have to have all new ones all round, WTF???? is this right? surely theyre talking danglies to get some more cash outta me and was qouted about £400 pfffffft "yeah right" was my first thought. Anyone shed some light on these so called "new mouldings" that I would apparently have to have instead of having them just sprayed and coated?
Me think I would be better off going to an independant body shop, so anyone know a good one around Derby area?
New bumpers and not sprayed???????

mate if you want it done properly thats not a bad price cos its not just a case of sprayin em theres a shed load to do to get them lookin "factory fitted" they have to make them smooth first otherwise the job will not look perfect
p.s if it were me id use the money and smooth them off the side of the car, much smoother!

I had all mine done for £250 (including Ecosse bonnet vents). It wasn't a perfect job (there were some minor paint scratches where they'd levered off the side strips) but it was perfectly adequeate, especially for the price.
I'm not sure if they had to smooth down the bumpers or not.. probably not for that price!

on the older lower model cars bith black bumbers, they were a dimpled effect, whereas painted ones were smooth. This was why you couldnt just go around painting them, as the paint would crack. there is no problem painting the cc bumpers so far as i know, so should be able to use the same ones.
my pug dealer wanted £200 if i had it done woith other paintwork, dunno how much on its own

Went to my pug dealer to ask about getting this done whilst the cc's having swear words sprayed out of its door, i think he said the usual price would be around 250 (not sure if that includes VAT or not)
Luckily whilst mines in then they'll be mixing the paint up anyway, so managed to sort out a better deal, so i lost all interest in the 'usual' price
I've been told that I could probably have it all done under the insurance at a local independant accident repair centre, but this is a proper pug dealer and i've used em before, so i know they do a mighty fine job, which is slightly more important to me

i had mine done last january by ecosse and over 18 months later they are still perfect as well as very smooth - any good bodyshop will be able to do u a good job at probably half the price the monkeys have quoted you.

Finally decided to get my car colour coded after nearly 2 years. Took the car to a local garage I know and they are quoting £150 for the work. The guy said seeing as the side rubbing strips and bumpers on my 2002 model are smooth then they should be easy to paint and job will take a couple of days.
An excellent deal if I have to say!!!!
