Anybody have any suggestions for a reliable detector that's not too expensive.

I am becoming worried about getting caught speeding as I am enjoying driving my 206CC around (quickly) in all the great weather we've been having lately.

It is just such a fun car with the roof down.

I think Autoexpress reviewed the best detectors a month or so ago. Someone may still have a copy, not that we'd be advocating speeding!

Thank you for such speedy responses ... lol

The Bel980 it is (£299), not that I condone speeding on any public roads either.

Definately worth the investment, I've spent up on accessories for the Pug, but one of these babies is definately next on the list. Would have saved me from those 6 points and £535 fine

One piece of advice, do your homework. I'd go for top end, there are cheaper units out there - you pays your money, you takes your choice. FYI - Above model (Bel980) available from
http://www.radar-guys.com/ (USA based)
For $252 inc. shipping (3-8days) that's about £180 !

It's not big, it's not clever...but it's fun

Dont buy a detector from the usa as the bands are different - make sure you go through a uk dealer

A uk model should work in the continent as well.

The best model you can buy is called a Valentine 1 - 550 ish but it's the best of the best

Also guys remember that they wont detect marked/unmarked police cars following you using an on board speed camera
or
The new 2 camera point system where cameras are placed at diffenet points to work out your average speed

Also dont display it in an obvious place in your car - traffic officers dont like that

Chris, the USA model specified above covers most of the UK frequencies, there is also a model above which covers off most other countries bands.
For the 2 point camera system being 'tested' out in a few places (inc. Northampton around Weston Favell, and around Birmingham on the M6) check this baby out ! Full GPS stylie.

£400 retail, check out performance message boards (such as Scoobynet & TVR) people club together to purchase - I have heard for around £330.
