Hi,
I use my PDA with a GPS, and currently I've got my GPS unit under the bonnet vent and I've run a cable through to the driver's footwell and then into the cigarette lighter socket, and it all works fine.
I'd like to tidy up the cabling by hardwiring it rather than having to use the cigarette lighter. What's the best way to do this? Should I wire it directly into the cigarette socket (but i've heard that taking the centre console off is a pain)? Or can i wire it directly to the battery? I've bought a cigarette lighter socket from Maplin so I can keep the current power lead in tact (in case i sell it), plus i won't need to wire in a fuse.
Thanks
Matt

HI mrjay
hey! that's exactly what i had in mind. I just purchaced a re-radiating antennae for my Garmin etrex vista and intended to run the circuit exactly the same way. suggest wired it to fuse. will be attempting it soon.
let's exchange notes.
also, intending to order a Ram's mounting system to fit, any suggestions?

Just got a new cc which I am picking up tomorrow and they have hardwired the leads that I gave them for my Ipaq and GPS receiver.
I previously had this in cig lighter socket in old car.
The garage have said that they have done it but not sure how. I will let you know when I have found out.
