Can anyone help?
I have a new 53 Plate 1.6 Allure and i am trying to find out if the MPG is correct?
I have only driven around 800 Miles and this weekend i drove from London to Warrington and back (380 miles avg) and i spent almost £60 in petrol    when i test drove the car i was told that i would get around 35 MPG But the computer says that i get an average of 22 MPG around London this can't be correct!
I am going to take the car to the dealer tommorow to have the seals on the car re done for the 2nd time in a week and i will point out the MPG at the same time, but if anyone out there can help before then please do.

I can't remember what the actual MPG reading was on my 1.6  , but I used to get about 70-75 miles per £10 petrol (costing about 74p per litre), with mosting normal (ie. non-motorway) driving.
I was told by the Service chap that the computer was showing I got good MPG, but sorry, I can't remember what it was.

Watching the guage move on my 2.0l was a shock!

Have you got the Air Con running, that drinks petrol!

Get it checked and don’t take no for an answer. I was getting 22mpg and the dealer said there was no problem. It went back several times, each time they said everything was OK and they couldn’t find anything wrong. Eventually took it to a different dealer and they immediately found a faulty sensor. Once that was replaced the fuel consumption shot up, now I get around 32mpg. :D

Hi
Got back from the dealer today and was told that the MPG was due to the car having to be run in. (having read your comments, I WILL BE ASKING THE QUESTIONS AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTILL THEY DO SOMETHINK ABOUT IT)
Hi Liz i have not had the air con on in the time i have had the car, but i have run it for about 10 mins per month as advised when i got my car from the dealer.
I will let you all know how i get on tommorow when i pick the car up.

Hello
ive just got back from the dealer having had both seals changed for the 2nd time
When i asked about the MPG he said that the car was placed on the computer and that there was no problems showing on the computer, we came to the point were we said that we would give it untill 1500 miles and if there was no change then they will look into it again, but when i got into the car the AC was on full  So i asked why this was and would told that the dilvery driver must have had the AC on, so the :mfight: has had my AC on all the time he/she had been driving the car (approx 20 miles) and they wonder why i am asking them to check the MPG.

Our 2.0 regularly does 30-35 mpg now. When it was new it was <25 mpg all the time.

I tend to get an average of 42.2 which is a cross between town and country driving

Have you discovered the accelerator yet, or is yours a diesel? ;)

PS: just calculated the MPG I got from the last tank of Optimax in the TVR (actually it's my first tank of fuel in it). 14.7 mpg!

Is that the pedal on the right that's almost worn away?!!! I have several passengers who would say I may have over discovered it!

Yeah, guess I just seem to manage good MPG!

Mmm...I was gonna start a new post about 2.0l MPG as I realised yesterday that mine was 25.2  And that's without running air con
But from your quote above, I hope that is gonna improve. How many miles did you do before it got better?

Vanda - what engine size is yours (tried to look at your owner details, but they're inaccessable :?

Well I don't drive it that often, so I didn't notice when it improved. But it's got 11k on the clock now, and it's definitely better than when it was new.

I've only done 750 ish miles.

I've also been told that it will seem more powerful and not so tight as it runs in a bit, after about 2500k.
