I have just had a Blaupunkt Satellite Nav System fitted to my car and am finding that the SATNAV aerial does not pick up a signal inside the car. Does anyone know what the windscreen is constructed of? is there a metallic content or film.
The only way i can get the system to recognise my location is by putting the receiver on the roof of the car.......
Leigh

I have a blaupunkt DX-V travelpilot fitted in my CC and I have the antenna mounted just under the bonnet vents (2 zip ties) and this works well, I previously had it in the centre of the upper side of the bonnet about 6" down from the top and this gave almost a constant reception of 8 sats, with it fitted under the bonnet vents I get a fairly constant 7 sats.
I tried it where the toll card spaces are beside the rear view mirror and found that this didn't work too well at all with an adv of 5 sats.

After a lot of jigging around, I have put the receiver on the roof! Yes. As it is magnetic, I have run the cable up the roof pillar and across and it sits under the roof radio aerial. Excellent reception and looks ok.
The cable is not on view and it has solved the problem.
Thanks for your advice... I had a top installation guy from Toad fit the unit and he claimed that the windscreen did not have any metal content, as he had fitted one before!!! Ahhhhh professionals.. they know everything.
