Non Multiplexed: Where all the vehicle electrical components are "hard Wired" As they have been since day dot.. Few wiring problems to note or worry about..

Multiplexed: Where The vehicle electric systems are split into sub systems and are controlled by the BSi..
Think of Computer Network.. Server = BSi, Users = sub systems.

What the F**k are the manufacturers thinking of.. Yes they save some weight and cash with multiplexing, but have introduced other problems :shock: :shock:
Most manufacturers are going down this route.. Shame

Easy - do you have a single red button at the top of your dashboard (for hazards) or two? (hazards & locking)?

One = non multiplexed
Two = multiplexed

There are hundreds of posts on this forum about ,multiplexing.. do a search and see what you can find.

Two red buttons at the top of dashboard doesn't necessary mean it's a multiplexed. In England it would mean, but for example here in Finland all car's have only that one button (whether they are multi or not).
I think all newer cars are automatically multiplexed, but since what year i'm not sure???

OK if the buttons don't help try flashing your full beam very quickly. Multiplexed cars tend to take a while before the lights come on. Non-multiplexed cars come on instantly. Same goes for the horn.

Finally I think that the trip computer that shows you MPG etc is only available on multiplexed models...

Flashing lights and trip computer might tell it's a multiplex. Just checked that in Finland all cars after early 2002 are multiplex models. Mine car is 2002 and it's a multiplex-model.
That lights flash-delay is a very annoying :evil:

:shock: :? Very reassuring. I use the horn if it's kinda urgent (or seen someone I know! ;) )

Or you can turn your wipers onto either Pos 1 or 2 turn off the engine and restart it and if yours is a multiplex like mine the wipers will not move unless you re-select the wiper speed on the stalk.
