As some of you know I crashed my old Pug 4 months ago
http://www.peugeotperformance.net/galle ... cc021.html

The first garage ( non Peugeot , insurance company preferred repair gararge ) fixed the front damage for 13,000 euros and when I got the car I found out that the roof was damaged as well. After one month the car went to Peugeot and they hired a company to try and fix the roof which didn't work out. A month later Peugeot tried to fix the roof themself which happened last week and they couldn't do the job. The roof closes, but I have to push REALLY hard to the handles to close is, the roof rattles on bad roads ( it didn't rattle at all before the crash ) and it leaks at 2 places. ALso the roof sticks a little bit out on one side ( 2-3 milimeters ).

This coming monday the insurance company will call me back to tell me what to do.

When the car crashed it was 10 months old, if the car is unfixable or the total damage would be more than 15,000 euros the insurance company would give me a BRAND new car. Total damage so far 14,000 euros and a roof with problems that can not be fixed.

Peugeot has given up. I didn't ask the dealer but can a NEW ROOF also be the solution or is the roof part of the car, i.e. when the roof ist kaput then the whole car is kaput ?

What will the company tell me this monday and what should I do if they offer me a small amount of money instead of a new car ?

Any help appreciated!

i would imagine that the roof can be purchased and fitted separately as if the car was technically a write-off if the roof was unfixable then the car would be placed in excessively high insurance groups - it isn't.

as far as what your insurance company offers you i can't really comment on as the rules seem to differ from the uk.

good luck anyway and i hope you get things sorted out some way.

That's terrible :( :(

Well I'm having a girlie moment (how unusual) but what the heck, I'll say it anyway...

Could the body be slightly bent or do they stick em on rolling roads to get them truly square? If the body's not square, then the roof wont fit... I'd say get a new one out of them and good luck :)

Peugeot measured all and they said, the body is perfectly straight. They said because the accident happened with the roof down the roof got hit at the point where it's fixed to the car, so a new roof won't work, this roof will fit perfectly in any other 206 cc !
the ' thing ' where the roof attaches to ( part of the car ! ) is bent ! So they'll never be able to fix it. Tomorrow I will hear from the insurance company....

Well that sounds like a write off to me, so I hope you get a new car out of it - fingers crossed eh?

well, the insurance company called, they are gonna ask the dealer to give a price quote on replacing everything except the roof, i.e. all the parts that have been bent ! WTF !??!??!?!??! What am I supposed to do now, is it possible to even do that ? the car is good and the roof is good so they're gonna take the roof out and replace the rest, again it is gonna take me some weeks, 4 months now. WHere can I find a good lawyer ? :(

 Personally, when I first read about your accident, I was surprised that it wasn't a write off....I bet you'd feel better with a new "un-accident" damaged car? I certainly would. Wishing you all the very best in getting a decent solution...

Yep Lyndon, I've heard of a bike breaker in Farnborough who buys brand new bikes and breaks them for engine/plastics etc and makes a small fortune on each one :D
