Well, maybe not a great mystery but I'm confused.

i have a 1.6 and the grille on the front bumper is huge. Its one of the ones where the number plate is only half attached rather than the ones where the grille stops at the top of the plate. I've looked at a few of the 1.6's on this site and most of them are the same as mine. I've seen a few on the road today though and they all have the grilles that finish at the top of the plate, as does my mothers grille on her CC. i also saw a 2.0ltr that had the short grille. i thought it might be the date the car was made as my mums is an 02 but the 2.0ltr I saw was an 03!

Why do some have the large grille and some have the small?!?!?!?!?!

all SE's have and always have had the sports bumper (large grille). the 1.6 changed to the sports bumper for the 2003 model.

BUT my 2002 italian model does have the sports bumper. Now that I remember in fact when I bouught the lower grille back in december the dealer here thought he had it in stock (I guess he looked for a 1.6 one, with small grille) and then he called me saying he didn't! and he had to collect the car off me when he finally got it....
