Hi,

I'm probably going to get a 206cc by the end of the year and wondered how you guys rate the general reliability of the 206cc. I'm aiming for the 1.6. Looking at this site there seem to be many horror stories but right now I have a 206 1.4 and never had any trouble with it apart from the odd rattle. What do you think?

On another note when I told my friends I was thinking of getting one some, but not all mind you, of them claimed it to be a car for the girls! I disagree with them. Can a guy have a 206CC and look cool :D What's your comments?

Thanks guys.

yeah a guy can have a CC, just look through the owners and see how many blokes to girlies there are :D :D :D :D :D

this forum does give off the opinion that the CC is nothing but trouble, sure it's got it's little niggles/faults but haven't all cars ???

it's up to you but i still like the CC, even more so when the roof's down :D :D :D :D :D

Why do you say that Derek? By the way did you see a huge difference in fuel consumption between the 1.4 and your SE? Some people say that Peugeot's 16 valve engines guzzle fuel!

Not really - depends how you drive. I used nearly a full tank in the celica tonight getting from dover to southend  Now THAT's thirsty!

i'm just fed up with mine the now but mainly because of the incompetent dealers.

just before trading in my 1.4 i checked the mpg over a few tanks and it was 40mpg.

my CC to start with was 31.7mpg although this has improved to 34.4mpg and 36.2 at the moment as i'm taking things a bit easier :)

just noticed u said u were thinking of the 1.6 so i wouldn't expect much difference for you from the 1.4 although i would recommend the 2.0SE if u can afford it.

Thanks guys for all the info. Derek, I'm going for the 1.6 mainly because of insurance and for an 'every day' car a 1.6 would be fine I think. Thanks again for all the info though

I don't think the 'faults' are that bad tbh, unless of course you get a real lemon! My mum drives a BMW convertible which was over twice the price of my car, the seals on it are just as bad as my 206! As for the squeaky brakes, its annoying but it doesnt affect the way the car drives as such. Every car has its problems :)

I say go for it, I love mine and wouldn't have anything else (apart from that lovely Honda S2000 in 2 Fast 2 Furious but in the absense of such budgets...)!! :D

Have you driven the 1.6 derek? To be honest having driven both versions of the cc, i think the difference between 1.4 & 1.6 is a LOT bigger than the difference between 1.6 & 2.0 (as supported by the figures)

Maybe i notice the 1.6 vs 2.0 difference less because i have driven a lot of 'properly' fast cars, but i dont think there's much in it at all!

Ktoshney - my advice (i've said it before and i'll say it again) is that if you have a high enough budget, then go for the 2 litre. However, If its a choice between 2 litre with cloth interior & a 1.6 with leather, then i'd take the 1.6 with leather every time

i haven't :D did drive a 306 1.6 in a test drive as there wasn't a 1.4 that i was buying available and didn't notice a lot of difference between them. possibly different engines from the 206 but performance will be similar.

i didn't buy the 2.0 for the performance as i have never owned anything bigger than a 1.4, it was mainly due to the spec differences in the two models.

Well, actually I haven't checked yet, but I live in Malta and here premiums can vary wildly depending on engine power. But I will check things out before making the final decision.
