Apologies if this has been raised (ha, ha) before but I've only had my CC five months and am new to the site.
Don't, whatever you do, switch off the ignition while trying to raise/lower the roof as it cuts out the electronics and you have to have the whole thing reset. I stupidly did this a couple of weeks ago when parking up and while the boot lid dropped back down through gravity so that the car was driveable, it was a Saturday afternoon and the service guys had gone from the local dealer. One of the salesmen was really kind but neither of us could fathom out the manual instructions (who writes these things?) so I had to leave the car there until they could sort it on the Monday. My recovery company said they couldn't come out as it wasn't classed as a mechanical failure and was driveable.
Has anyone else had this response from recovery agents with their roof problems?
Don't switch off the ignition

welcome to the site .............
but i would have thought it was obvious not to switch the ignition off when the roof is in operation. it's obvious it is going to stop and with a complex mechanism like that it's just asking for trouble.
don't take this the wrong way as u have just made your first post
but the manual tells you how to operate the roof and doesn't tell you it's ok to switch the ignition off.

Well lastnight I switched off my engine and then put the roof up and it was fine!
Am I just very lucky?
I am sure I have done this once or twice before only because I have either been talking or not paying attention. I just thought it wasn't wise to do it coz it drains the power from the battery??

no that's fine.
it's ok to do it with the ignition on or off in the 2nd key position.
your just not supposed to switch the ignition off in the middle of doing it
