Going downhill braking about to turn the nasty sharp corner and guess what!
Engine cuts out steering goes heavy (no power steering) and the brakes just don't want to stop me (no servo assist).
Solution: Use the handbrake! Panic and then bump start. Not neccesarrily in that order either.
A very close call. I'll be in for a service in the next few days I hope the dealer is ready to accept my wrath (and extremely long list of faults so far).
Yet another near miss!!

dont forget to compile a typed list.
Make sure this list also includes your concerns over the cars safety. If you have a power failure and then a crash after the garage give it the Ok then you can sue Peugeot. (can we all come to court if you do)

I am writing regarding letter on the 206cc website. I have a Y reg 306 1.8 petrol and have exactly the same problem the garage have looked at it four times now and this has been over a period of six months.
The engine cuts out intermittently leaving me unable to brake or steer and they cannot find the fault and have never heard of this (Renwicks Exeter) Peugeot Uk have never heard of this happening neither.
Please let me know how you got on as I have been advised to take legal action.
PS they have replaced
1. Stepper motor
2. Map Sensor
3. Speed Sensor

This has happened to me twice before but not recently.
It's f***king scary when it happens!
I was pulling into the carpark where I work and evrything locked up the warning beeping started and the car steered to the left and the steering wheel wouldn't turn.
It did it again while I was in a queue of traffic so both times luckily didn't result in anything serious.
Hasn't done it since but the electrics do seem to be strange with the car. For instance I'll pull up with the engine running and turn the headlights off and they'll be a 3-4 second delay before they go off.
Very strange.

Well this has not happenend for ages - in fact since the time my roof got stuck - I took it into the zoo (to be inspected by the monkeys) and the chief ape there fixed my roof - he also said he had "done some other things" as this car had never been recalled.
Could he have done something to the ECU firmware which solved the problem.
I mentioned this to a mate of mine who had a similar problem with his 306 who said that this was how he fixed his problem.
