Hi All,

I was interested in getting some idea of how the much people from different area's and ages were paying for Insurance on the CC,

There seems to be so much variation now between companies, I thought a thread here giving basic details might help prospective owners in the right direction, as usual I searched loads of companies before ending back at the 2 I normally use!.

DETAILS

Car : 2.0 CC 2003
Driver : Female Age 30
Area : N Derbyshire (Rural)
No Claims : 10 Years

Fully Comp : £100 Excess :

Best : Halifax & Esure @ £315
Next : Direct Line @ £375 (inc 10% Existing Policy Discount)
Worst : Peugeot UK Website @ £675

Accident august 1999 but if you get free pug insurance, and renew for a year then they give you 7 years ncb to take where you want. I tried shopping around in march but not many places were talking <£1000, so i just took the pug insurance quote. :?

Its fine - my brother did the same. NCB is a con anyway - it has nothing to do with being a safe driver, as proved by the fact that you can PROTECT it! (you could say having x years NCB a couple of months after an accident is just as bad)

Also, some brokers can arrange extra years NCB with some insurance companies

Blimey! thats cheap - £960 for a cc! Although i work out that 21/22 x 12 makes you 11.45 months old, so i dont see how you have 3 years NCB ;)

Seriously though they just sign over 7 years - my brother had no problems transfering it, and at the end of the day it is all underwritten by UK insurance, who also do Renault, Tesco and about 12 others (some of whom are well known but i just cant remember them!) Surely it is no different to if your discount is protected by one company, and you try to transfer it.

It seems your 'no claims' has little to do with how long since you had a claim anymore!

So they say..i'd rather have my car  :D

Diamond insurance was the cheapest for me. I think Esure were generally cheaper but that's because they have silly restrictions - I had a Saxo VTR (insured by Halifax) before my CC but at renewal they decided they couldn't insure that for under-30s anymore (something to do with being taken over by Esure!). :?
