:D Hi folks.just joined forums and have bought my wife a new 206cc. I have a query regarding alarm system. To deadlock my alarm you press once, to normal lock twice. When roof down I am told there is a perimeter alarm system and indeed on a few ocassions alarm has gone off by me touching seats. On other ocassions it hasnt. anyone any ideas, similar probs with this situation??thanks. :)

Welcome!

Yep, the first push of the lock button locks & deadlocks the car. The second push then releases the deadlocks but leaves the car locked normally.

The factory fitted alarm is not the best around - I have seen the same thing, where sometimes it goes off if you put your hand inside, sometimes it doesn't. At one point it also seemed to act differently whether the windows are up or not, but I think this may be a red herring...

Thaanks for reply/info.

I have tried alarm couple of occasions now when roof down and yesterday it went off no problem, today nothing!

Its booked in at garage later in month, but as usual, I bet it works fine for them!

I think there must be a microswitch/sensor that nows when roof down and sets alarm which may/may not be working??

See what happens!! :D :D

Thanks again.

Count yourself lucky. For some reason none of the South African versions come with a alarm fitted. We have to have it installed ourselves.
I've been to the year 3000. Not much has changed and we all drive Pugs

On the 03 model, its definately ist deadlocks, 2nd locks, and re the initial query with alarm, peugeot say the alarm should go off when roof down unless doors are forced........heaven knows why it went off by touching seat a few times then?!!

:D My previous post was a bit jumbled!!
My concerns were exactly the same as yours as I wanted to leave roof down but was wary of attracting idiots. I thought all was fine as my alarm was going off with roof down when I put my hand on seat etc, but only now and again!

I took it to dealer who said exactly what book says which is it should not go off when roof down unless a door or boot etc was forced as it would be pointless going off by someone just putting their hand in...drain battery etc. they could not explain to me why sometimes the sensors did not disarm on roof being down and it had been going off......very confusing :?
needless to say I took there word that all was functioning as it should and that its just a chance you take leaving car with roof down.......at least they cleaned inside and out whilst it was there, so perhaps I should get them to check a fault weekly!! :D
