A 206CC (automatic) was purchased in September 2002. Almost immediately,
faults began to occur. The greatest problem was extensive water coming inaround the roof and the boot. The back seats were sodden, the carpets weresoaking wet. The car went back to the garage time and time again. One representative of the garage suggested the car be parked on a hill. In the end, amazingly to us, Peugeot offered to replace the car.
The only one available had leather seats and the cash difference had to be paid. As soon as the car was returned, it appeared on the garage forecourt for sale. One of the problems was consitent pulling to the left. This was never resolved. The replacement car was obtained in February 2003. This had 'minor' faults.
The trim around the gear lever came out every time the gear lever was moved.
The vanity light on the driver's sun visor was in pieces.
The worst was the pulling to the left.
The garage would not accept this. One employee said it was 'the camber of the road'. Another said 'all Peugeot's do this.' The car was involved in an unexplained incident and both near side tyres and wheels were damaged by hitting the kerb.
On taking the car to a specialist garage, it was found that both the front and rear wheels were out of alignment. The off side front tyre was found to have excessive and very unusual wear due, it was considered, to mis alignment. The specialist said that as there was a fixed rear axle there was no way any realignment could be undertaken. The specialist garage have indicated that the misalignment is potentially dangerous.
The garage which sold both cars has been contacted again and they have said they will consult Peugeot for their views. Has anyone else experienced 'pulling to the left' and has any remedial action been taken or the matter taken up with a garage or Peugeot and, if so, with what result.
