When I was a teenager I hated the idea of automatics but now I'm 30 and in London I get bored of shifting every couple of seconds.
The only thing I don't like about auto's is the sound the engine makes.
The manual version usually has a faster 0-60 but, as I'm sure we all know, you're got to be very abusive to get those time*.
I miss the Selespeed system on my Alfa but I wouldn't have another until long term reliability has been shown (i.e. more than 3 years!) but that seemed to be a good compromise.
So what do you prefer? Has anybody got an auto 206cc?
Jason
* I remember reading about the 4 wheel drive 911 where they gained a tenth by side-steping the clutch i.e. rather than lift your foot you just have a toe on it and then move it too the side. The clutch pops up on it's spring.

I prefered my stick 2.0L CC for sheer exhilaration on country roads (though urban driving and M25 crawls really got me down).
Unfortunately the upgrade to an AMG slk doesn't have an option, tranny or nothing. The arguement is the stickshift couldn't match the rapid speed through gears and clutch heavyness. I would have preferred a stick but at least urban driving will become more bearable.
