Hello, I rang my preferred local Dealer KAP, very helful. Just to clarify the brake recall situation.

It only applies to 1.6's!! Does the 2.0 not have brakes??

Apparently the squeak is caused by brake pads not containing abestos anymore! and all dealers and makers have the squeak problem!?.

The recall replaces the pads but in your services the wheels are removed for the pads to be inspected and are cleaned thoroughly to reduce the squeak.

Good luck ;)

if they only clean it, you may as well make an appointment for the next day also, because they will squeak again that soon... Believe me, i've been there. :?
Problem is now solved during the the use of anti-squeak pads my dealer installed. :D

Don't understand why its only Peugeot wit this problem :?

My SLK brakes never squeek unlike my old CC, assuming non asbestos brakes are now a EU directive I fail to see why my car should be squeekless (don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining)

However, 6 months down the line my SLK roof now creaks like mad - even more than my old CC  apparently its also a known problem with the SLK - ah well

I know what you mean I work in a used car garage and only 1 or 2 squeak like my CC and I have driven 100s of cars in the last few months. Why Peugeot cannot sort this out I don't know.

My local garage didn't mention that the brake recall was for 1.6 versions only, mines a 2.0 SE and I was told to expect a recall on the brakes in the near future. Think I'll give them a call just to check the situation, it wouldn't be the first time they've got things wrong.
