No - i asked the insurance company and they said it wouldnt even reduce my premium. If my car gets nicked and thrased i figure im gonna have to make a claim anyway - therefore i wouldnt really want the car back - i'd buy a new one ;)

very suprised it doesn't change the premium, what's the point then, as you say if its stolen and don't come back you make a claim and buy a new one, i would have expected a arge discount for a tracker as it only really saves the insurance company money and no one else

Apparently the underwriters for Tesco, Peugeot ins, Renault, etc (All UK Insurance) do not give any discount for trackers - what they DO do is demand you have a tracker installed if you have a high spec/highly desirable/over 30-40 grand car as part of the policy

I'm with Wheel-Repair-It. I had a tracker-monitor fitted to the new car, £599 for the unit plus £99 per year thereafter, not sure if it's affected my premium (!!), but I was paying £666 on the 2.0 CC SE and am paying £653 on the A4 Cabriolet 2.4 V6 costing nearly twice as much (both me and missus insured)

Plus - it's peace of mind, if it gets nicked you're almost definately going to get it back, probably fairly quickly and possibly without too much damage (almost definately, probably, possibly, definately maybe ?!).

Well i cant speak for ALL insurance companies, just UK insurance, so that is only about 12 of them. When i told my mate who is a broker about this, he was unsurprised, and said i would be 'unlikely' to get any discount, although he never said i definately wouldnt. Spose the easiest way is just to phone your own insurance company and ask them whether they will do any reduction or not

when i have done online quotes with various companies, quote differences with and without tracker have been minimal, e.g. not much more than 5%.

anyway, i can never understand how ppl get obesessed about their car getting nicked - would be a bugger if it happened but you just go out and buy another one.

it's only a car :P

I got it to save on insurance ! Maybe 'cos it's a soft-top, and reached 'nick-to-order' status rather than being targeted by opportunist thieves. Can't see the 206CC being targeted by organised crime which is why I didn't get a tracker fitted in mine (now 'hers'). Insurance is a funny thing anyhow, Audi insurance quoted me £800-£900, Norwich Union Direct (who I have been with for 2 years) beat all other quotes by £100 (£220 excess) - non-sensical.

If you're looking for an insurance saving on the Pug - don't bother. Interesting - how does a Thatcham class-1 (?) alarm affect premiums ?

I was wondering if the yearly tracker fee would be more than i would save on insurance, as it looks very much that why from the posts i thing i'll save my money and put it towards my navigation system instead

Yes it is only a car and you can get another one but surely the main reason for having a tracker fitted would be deterrent factor???? Do you get a sticker saying the vehicle has a tracker fitted? I know I had my horse freezebranded which cannot be removed and is very visible is a great deterrent to horse thieves. Does this work the same with cars. If it does then you save the trauma of theft which is still there even if it is only a car.

I had a NavTrak unit fitted to my first CC Free Of Charge as a test for them.

I liked it. It had other uses besides recovery after theft. Its very expensive but very smart.

Lyndon might know what happened to the reviews that I did of the system.
