Well my cars now 14 weeks old, I love driving it, its 163 bhp and very nippy but ideally I would like to trade it up for an even quicker version. Dealers offered me 20K for mine (thats 3K less than what I paid new).

He has a 218 bhp 2002 model 3.2L SLK in stock for 30K and a fantastic 354 bhp 2002 model 32 AMG with 5k miles in stock for 37k.

Trouble is do I do the sensible thing an save money by waiting for the new 2004 model on order, or do I act stupid an trade up now for either a 2002 3.2 SLK (another 10K plus my car) or the AMG 32 SLK (another 17k plus my car) and take an even heavier trade in loss when the new SLK model arrives.

Also for the price of the 2002 AMG 32 SLK I could get a new Porsche Boxter or possibly a Boxter S which my girlfriend likes or the all new CLK convertable .

Or if we both sell our mercs we could always buy the new SL 350 (from 56k).

I don't know what to do.

Robbie. :?

Got an even better idea..... Keep the Merc and buy me another cc, then I could use mine for work and keep the new one for the weekends and holidays!

On a more serious note, keep the 56k invested wait until next year and you might have changed your mind again by then, and I thought impulse buying was only a female trait!

Coming from the kit car scene I'd rather get someone to build me an AC Cobra replica like

http://www.v8cobra.co.uk/htm/forsale.htm

for £24,000. They don't loose there value (mine sold for more than I paid for it after 2 years). You don't get the gadets like in a modern car but you'll feel like a filmstar driving one. Everyone waves (my first day of driving I stopped twice because I thought I had a problem) and people drive in the ditch in the hope you'll overtake.

Insurance for my 360BHP version was cheaper than my 2.0cc!

Of course, there is a downside. 10MPG for starters and you can't really do 30K a year in one so you'll need a 2nd car for shopping etc but as an asset that doesn't really loose value every garage should have one! :)
Cheers

I hope not, since i bought the cc on impulse and VERY nearly bought a £3,600 telly yesterday (oh, but what a telly is was) ;) :D

Maybe i'm just in touch with my feminine side?!?

Thanks guys, I'll bear all comments in mind.

Derek, the recent climate has been kind to me, hence my dilemma, I buy oversold stock for the technical bounce and rarely hold anything in this climate for more than a few hours. BFG - Big Food Group or BFP on the ticker tape as you know may end up being bid for if Bauger the Icelandic Company continue to compliment their 22% stake - worth keeping if you hold any.

Robbie.

Looks like another peek at what the new SLK should look like next year:
