Came back midday to find 2 South East Water contractors digging up the pavement outside the drive. So, I can't get in an girlfriends car can't get out.

Conversation went like this:

I haven't any notification of this work"

"Don't need any, its public highway we're working on"

At this pont I was looking around for Jeremy Beadle as I definitely had my Mr Angry hat on

"Er.. excuse me but your blocking my access I would expect notification"

Eventually the 2 workmen agreed to shovel the earth to one side to give me access through the smallest of gaps.

Came back in afternoon workmen gone, earth left blocking the drive  obviously too much hassle to move the earth.

There was also the residues of enormous flood water they had created that backed up over our new drive and sunk it by about 2 inches

2 calls later to SE Water, they agreed to refer complaint back to contractors depot but it wouldn't be prioritised.

I asked for Head Office Customer Services number. At 7pm I faxed them a legal notice notifying them of my intention to charge taxi fares from this evening onwards for the girlfriends car thats stuck in the drive, to also claim compensation for inconvenience and the damage to the new drive. I also put them on notification of my concern that the slk could be keyed if left on the road and that should it happpen I would hold them responsible - having informed them in advance of the risk.

8pm 1 hour later, an Irishman knocks "I've come to fill in the hole" Customer Care also rings back and gives me details of their insurance department (which must get very busy).

And still no Jeremy Beadle.

just go to their depot one night and block it - if its public highway then apparently you don't need to give notification

 I reserve Mr Angry hat for only the gravest of occasions - usually its concerning cars like today.
