Hello all. It's taken me an age to get round to posting on here, but I have a query before I turn up at the dealership looking stupid...
I took delivery of my new 206CC in August '02 (See piccy of me all proud on the day I got it!) and have been completely pleased so far. Ok, aside from one little moment of the roof computers getting confused and leaving me with a kind of semi-roof till I dug out the manual and a friend, and gave the roof some TLC.... but anyway, we've all been there!
My question concerns the Auto Light feature. I have the 2.0SE model and from what I've read here, it does have multiplexing, with the split control on the bit where the display is. I have Auto Windscreen wipers (which I think are just so marvellous), but I don't seem to have the Auto Lights, even though my 'stick' has Auto > on it, and the end does depress in. Simply put, nothing at all happens when I push it in - no display readout, certainly no auto lights coming on and off!
From what I've read, if I have one (the auto windscreen wipers), I should have the other. Is that right? Do I have a faulty auto-light thingie? It's due for its 6 month service soon, so if it is a problem I guess I can bring it up then.
Thanks for any help!

You should definitely have auto-lights if you have a multiplexed car. The feature is turn off and onable by the button on the left stalk, but I think you have to hold it in when you turn the ignition on or something (in work at the mo so can't get my manual to check, but I'm sure it's in there somewhere!)
It is possible that something is broken - maybe the light detector isn't wired up or something. The garage should definitely address this if you can't get it working.

Assuming you have one, have you read the manual?
If you have a manual, go away and read it now.
If you haven't got one, (IIRC) what you need to do is turn the ignition to the first position, press the Auto button in and you should get the confirmation on the display. If not, it's something like that.

Thank you all, I am officially a dimwit. I do have a manual, and I swore I had read it from cover to cover and tried everything... but obviously I hadn't.
I just ran downstairs, put the key to the first notch, held in the button and BING! Woohoo.
Thanks, you're all wonderful and I should really RTFM next time!

Ah yes, but isn't there a little star next to it?* There is on mine. Manual's still correct, it's just that my car's spec doesn't include the folding mirrors. Same with the heated seats.* I ain't got them either. Or a few other things* come to mention it.According to our manual Apparently there's a fourth position(at 6 o,clock) on the electric adjustable mirror control. Which folds the mirrors in.
* Subject to specification

Yes you probably right but does it not also say "subject to specification" for things auto lights wipers etc. which are an option on some cars.
The expection on "subject to specification" items is thet they are an option available on some vehicles. If you got a 2.0 with every thing you'd exect to have all the "subject to specification" gadgets.
It misleading to put "subject to specification" aginst something that isn't available on any UK car in a manual for a UK car

Maybe they were/are planning those features and they made it into the manual? Or maybe they just translated the manual complete with the non-UK-relevant bits.
I must admit, the latter option sounds more likely.

Hey Michelle...
It was taken just as the sun had set, just off the A57 from Sheffield to Glossop - a road known as 'Snake Pass' which cuts right through the Peak District. It's a fantastic road (when it's not too wet/icy) to really appreciate the car!
Luckily my brother lived in Glossop and I live in Sheffield so it gave me an excuse to use it often!
