After 4 months of putting up with squeaky brakes and a rattle in the boot , I contacted 2 local dealers for warranty work , both refused to look at the brakes (this was then confirmed by a phonecall to pug uk) .They say that as there is no permanent fix they will not look at them. At first my local dealers refused to look at the rattle after I had explained it was not from behind the rear seats (as they suggested). I told them that it was definately behind the trim in the boot (boot light switch in fact -ive looked) , to which they said " the 206cc does not suffer from any such problem with anything in the boot , goodbye". I again contacted pug Uk who advised me to insist that the dealers look at this rattle but not to book the vehicle in specifically for this ie. wait until my 6 month service .................. when I tried again to book it in I was told in no uncertain terms by a very rude and pushy monkey to "ring back next week ,goodbye".

They only seemed interested to look at the rattle while they were assuming it was behind the seats - as soon as I mentioned the boot light switch they didnt want to know - I have removed the trim ans tapped the boot ;id and I am 99% confident this is the problem - i can't make it any easier for them

I had squeaky brakes had them flushed out!. It stopped them for a week, and guess what they squeak again. Think its a peugeot trait. My friend has a 106 and thats the same.

ahhhh how many times ?
the brake sqeuak problem is caused by the pads 'glazing', the disks on the pug are not grooved and hence will not knock off the glaze (whihc is what grovved pads are meant to do) hence you get squeks ....the glaze will come and go depending on road conditions and how you drive if you want to fix it permently then as Stephen says use harder compund pads .. or get grooved disks. It's not just a problem with pugs, pretty much any car with smooth disks can and do suffer from it.

i'm just looking forward to the day when my CC is in for a service and they say my pads need replaced and they ask if i want them to fit them.

I witnessed my CC up on the ramp, wheels removed and "treated"....so maybe....I never got another squeak in the next 7000 miles (till I sold the car)I've heard there is special spray for the brakes which reduces the unpleasant squeaks. Does anyone know something about it? Perhaps that's the "cure" Greg S got from his dealer...
I heard the squeaking is a common occurence in most new cars ever since the prohibition of using asbestos in brake pads....apparently the alternative substance used is just not as good and hence the inferior quality...but then i'm not technical minded and this may be nonsense?
