Hey all,

Please clear something up for me. Since I have had my car I have used the auto headlight feature. When I get out of the car and lock it (using the blipper), the headlights have always turned off immediately.

I have just had the ECU replaced (for a completely unrelated set of problems), and now the headlights dont turn off immediately when I lock the car, they turn off after a delay. The Peugeot Monkeys tell me that this is how it should have been all along. Is that so?

For those of you that use the auto headlights, do they turm off after a delay when locking it, or immediately?

I'd appreciate a few responses so I can go back to them with several testimonies if necessary.

Thanks,

Josh

This has been discussed before, maybe try searching??

I always use the auto lights feature and mine stay on for a short while after the car is locked.

I guess it's configurable and in the newer software, it's defaulted to a delay.

My headlights go off after a short delay - so you can see where you're going. The problem with auto headlights is that they don't come on in the mist or fog. You get so used to not touching them, you can forget to turn them on.

They are part of the visibility pack which includes auto wipers. They're standard on the SE from Nov'01 - option on S?

It's what the marketing men and women call "see you home lights" it intentional. I am sure I have come across it on other cars but can,t remember which.

Well the pug monkeys just called me of their own volition (I'm still in shock) to tell me that they were bemused by the change too, and they eventually figured out that the longer illumination is a "safety feature" which wasn't on the earliest models, but came as a software upgrade when they fitted the new BSI unit.

Thanks to those who responded...Once again I managed to get answers on this forum quicker than Peugeot themselves could supply them.

Hi all

Ok this might help clear this one up.

I have also recently had the ECU software upgrade and noticed there is a 30 second delay after pressing the blipper for the lights to go off.

Does not matter what they tell you this is NOT a new safety feature/improvement/should of worked that way before. It is actually a bug in the software, the lights should go off straight away.

There are now 2 ways to turn off the headlights:

1. Leave it 30 seconds and they will switch off themselves

2. Take the key out of the ignition (lights will still be on), now flash your headlights (flick of the left stalk). The headlights will flash to full beam and then turn off.

After the upgrade my dealer (pug dealer that is :P ), spoke to one of the top bods at the factory and they confirmed it was a bug in the software. He could not confirm if they where going to fix it, or leave it as it is.

Hope this helps

Nice to see another fault in the car turned into a feature of the vehicle - "see you home lights" hehe :)

Hi again

To be honest, even though it is a bug in the software, once you get use to walking away from your car with the lights on, it could be quite handy when parking at night.

So I suppose saying it is an enhancement is just another way of looking at it :)
