I'm in shock.

Thought it may be useful for a change after the first 1K to eradicate those little iron filing thingys from the engine oil during run in (what run in I hear people say- mine merely consists of not quite red lining it :D ) hadn't expected the cost though sheeesh!

Robbie.

Trouble is the filter etc is difficult to get to without a ramp and I just don't trust the likes of local garages to do a decent job and use fully synthetic oil :( but £113 was steep (£54 was for the oil the res was labour + VAT).

Robbie,

Paid about £95 for my oil change at 4000 miles for the same reason you did. About £50 for Mobil 1 and £10 for an engine flush to get rid of all the old crap in the engine and the rest labour cost and filter.

£50 for oil? Even Halfords only charge £25!

But halfords isn't a recognised dealer so I would invalidate my warranty. I don't think you can buy Mobil 1 for £25 at Halfords-I may be wrong.

You won't invalidate your warranty as long as the engine oil meets the minimum standard specified by the manufacturer. All (suitable) oil on sale at Halfords does.
