TERMS OF REJECTION - HELP

My dealer told me today, that they are not happy with the water leak repairs on my CC - I bluntly asked if that means they have carried out the repairs and the car still leaks to what their answer was yes.

I have said I don't want the car and am rejecting it. The After Sales Manager was off today because of a broken ankle and is going to phone me on Thursday to discuss this.

I am now in two minds whether to seek a replacement with terms attached (my terms) or a full refund to either source another CC or a different car. Where owners on this forum have rejected their CC, can you please answer the following questions for me, if you don't want it public, an e-mail with the info to dsneddon16@aol.com would be appreciated .....

1. Exact age of car when rejected

2. Approximate mileage when rejected

3. Where replaced .....

3A. How long did the replacement take
3B. Did you get any compensation or free extras fitted to the new car
3C. Were any additional payments involved
3D. What car were you given to use while waiting on the replacement

4. Where refund was obtained .....

4A. How much of the original outlay was recouped
4B. Did you receive any additional payment

5. Any other relevant info I have not covered

Its sad to see that another one bites the dust. What i want to know is what they do with rejected cars, do they sell them onto unsuspecting members of the public or do they go back to the factory

here goes one last plea for a response

i have a meeting set for 10am on friday to discuss in the dealers view a replacement, in my view a replacement under my terms or a full refund - or legal action.

When I spoke to the AA legal services, they told me there is no specific date governed by law as to when you cannot reject a car.

Our car had just done over 900 miles.

Our replacement was immediate as they 'found' an exact model to our original spec.

No compensation was sought.


No additional payments involved

We had a 307 Diesel whilst the CC was at the Garage.

If you do decide to keep a CC, get a replacement not your money back to source elsewhere. At least if you have problems with a replacement the dealer will hopefully view you as a priority.

With a new dealer you could be back to square 1...

In this weeks Auto Express they are doing a 1000 Tips section. One of the sections is advice on how to reject a car.

When I was about to reject my last car (not a CC!), AA legal dept advised that I had to prove that it was "not fit for purpose for which it was sold" (ie driving from A to B, wheras I could drive to B but not back to A as it would never start again) and that I'd have to give the dealer ample opportunity to fix it.

They'd had it loads and when I quoted this, hey presto! they fixed it :eek:

Derek, yours isn't fit for the purpose it was sold for - you didn't want to buy an aquarium AND you want to get to A to B DRY AND they've had it more than you AND admitted that they can't fix it. Good luck for tomorrow, not that you need it. I just hope your meeting isn't with a monkey.
