Right I've decided to import, if you can't beat em join em!

Ordered mine Saturday. But mines a 2003 23 foot Hobby 720 Prestige UMF caravan. Its absolute luxury with huge lounge + dining area, seperate full double bedroom at the back. Its going on an ordinary annual caravan pitch in Cornwall.

By ordering through a company that imports from Germany, I'm paying £11700 for a 2003 model , thus saving a small fortune on other British caravans bought in the UK which would easily be over twice the price.

If anyone's a caravaner and interested, I ordered mine through Ambergate Caravan Centre Derby 017730853900 or check out their website - www.hobbycaravansuk.co.uk

these caravans all have their door on the wrong siode. This can have insurance ramifications as you are more likely to cause an accident when accessing it at the side of the road.

My boss has been looking into buying one from them :) so he did some homework.

Hi Rob, I thought someone lived nearby around Belper but I couldn't remember who. We stayed at Makeney Hall Hotel at Milford for a couple of nights while we looked at the vans before deciding, I can really recommend the food there, fantastic. Being German caravans, they do have their door on the other side and I haven't looked into the insurance side of things so I'll will defenitely check.

These imports seemed good value not least because of the still favourable exchange rate, if you get a chance why not look into them on site, I was bowled over at what you get for the price. Apart from insuring it for the journey, I'm not sure whether I'll bother insuring it in general once its on site, the site is very secure and the owner watches over the caravans like they're his own.

I know of another Hobby joining our camp site next week so it looks like more and more people are getting to hear about the value in importing caravans.
